Works on canvas
I live and stay inspired by my home in the Otway Ranges, Southern Victoria, with the oceans, forest and lush green mountains.
Since my trip through South Australia and the Northern Territory in 2002, I often think back to the landscape with its open space, rich color, tough foliage and the beautiful aboriginal people living there, with their dreaming and hunter-gatherer connections to the land. Most of the woodblocks were carved directly with no set drawings or design ideas.
My spontaneous work is usually my best. I have respect for obscure tribal art and many other great modern sculptors, painters and print makers. Subconsciously I take a little something from them all and the rest from this amazing planet and its diversity.
